Donald Poltrick
Don was a lifelong comic book collector.
When he was a kid in the 1960s, every Friday night he would spend his 25-cent allowance on a 12-cent comic book, 10-cent chocolate bar and three penny candies. He was adamant that his sisters keep their grubby hands off his well-cared for stacks.
In adulthood his family knew he attended COMICCON each year with his best friends, Peter and Derek, and they would see him reading the occasional comic book. However, it was only on his passing that they discovered his collection contained over two thousand issues including many silver-age marvels with highly prized first appearances including Fantastic Four #48 and #52 and The Amazing Spider-Man #50. An exceptionally glossy Silver Surfer #4 shone like a gem.
Testimonial
When my Uncle Don passed away, we discovered he had amassed a collection of thousands of comic books. Nobody else in the family had any knowledge in this domain so we had no idea how to go about assessing its value or selling them. We were very grateful to have Toronto Vintage Comics take over and provide us with an assessment and selling strategy. He offered great, transparent communication on the options and took care of the sale, providing us regular updates. My family was very pleased to know Uncle Don’s collection was being handled with respect and care and was grateful to have Craig and his staff help wrap up the estate without a massive headache or a giant loss. We would all highly recommend Toronto Vintage Comics’ services if you’re in a similar position! – Laura S.
