How We Price Books

Everybody likes a deal, but anybody who has collected vintage comics also knows that prices don’t bear much downward pressure; rare and key issues, like the ones we list here for sale, hold value and appreciate quickly, outpacing most other forms of equity. While considering current market dynamics, including previous sold numbers and demand trends, we aim to arrive at a price that is fair to the current owner and the prospective buyer. If you are a collector/investor who understands the fundamentals of buy-and-hold asset appreciation, we are the seller for you. If you are looking to purchase at drastically reduced prices that enable you to earn a neat profit in a short amount of time, it is best to look elsewhere to fulfill your needs. In our experience, every book worth owning costs more than we want it to cost. However, hesitating to buy now in favor of waiting for prices to drop has proven to be an extremely flawed strategy when it comes to obtaining worthwhile vintage comic books.

**IMPORTANT NOTE ON PRICE TIMING**
All prices are based on assessment at time of url posting. With rapidly changing spot prices on vintage comic books, we cannot guarantee prices beyond 60 days dates of posted date.

 How We Grade Books

Every grade offered is an estimate within a reasonable range, and we always disclose defects. In addition, our experience has led us to believe that fair, accurate grading is very difficult to achieve above the VF+ range. Truth is, every comic book that bears handling stress is its own little world: the more imperfect the more idiosyncratic, and all the less able to be defined by any “professional” standard.

We crack alot of third-party graded / encased books from all major slabifiers, and we regularly discover inconsistencies with Overstreet’s standard Grading Definitions. Therefore, we offer grade assessments with an explicit understanding: grading is always subjective, never objective, and even the High Priests of Slabbish Pontification form questionable tenets. Estimate of grade is meant as an approximation of a book’s overall attractiveness in relation to other copies similarly graded, and not proffered for argument’s sake or agreement with third parties. If you disagree with any grade estimate we offer, please do not purchase the book.
